Together with the 9 Indonesian participants, Irene Vermeulen and Kees Bronk are looking back on a successful participation in the September 2014 Maison & Objet trade fair in Paris. A big thank you to all visitors taking the time to explore the new product ranges. In a mixed presentation, we showed several product ranges of each company, and the results of companies that had co-created products. In the material library, examples of materials and techniques were shown, ready to be applied in new products. Many buyers came and sat down at our big table, selected swatches from the material library, and discussed new products with the Indonesian companies.
Among the most successful products were bold rattan baskets by Nancy Craft, padded patchwork textiles by House of Lawe, stools and chairs made of FSC reclaimed wood by Prima Putra, with upholstery made of recycled billboard material by Dyrt Design, precious door knobs by Maharani Craft, bamboo baskets by Mitra Bali Fair Trade, side tables made of resin with inlayed wood by Golden Coco, and expressive objects made of driftwood and glass by Putri Ayu, and beautiful handwoven ikats by Aneka Tusma.
These Indonesian companies are all participating in an Export Coaching Programme, and have been coached by Kees Bronk to prepare for and know about the European market. Irene Vermeulen has worked with the companies to prepare for this trade fair, guiding them in product development and stand presentation. Together, Kees and Irene have organized and promoted this event, and have contacted buyers to invite them to visit the booth and meet the nine companies. With exciting results; not only have all exporters made new contacts, many are going to work together with importers to co-create products!
