Naturally dyed products from Tai Baan

Home Textiles from Laos at Maison & Objet

Tai Baan Crafts presents home textiles ranges with their signature ‘modern rustic’ look at M&O in September 2022. They work with locally grown and handspun cotton, with gives a beautiful texture to the fabric.

Natural dyes
Tai Baan’s colours are exquisite, as all yarn is dyed by hand using natural dyes. Indigo from Laos is of a top quality and has a rich and intense look. Tai Baan’s collection includes nicely textured scarves and shawls, in plain colours but also in subtle stripes and classic block and check patterns. There is also a nice two-tone colourway that is very much on trend.

Textured cotton
Their throws and cushion covers are made from the same, super soft and stunningly textured cotton. Tai Baan is also well known for their ikat textiles, a resist dye technique to create colour effects. The most spectacular ikat effects can be obtained with indigo dyes. The new collection therefore includes some ikat showpieces.

Fair Trade
All products are hand woven on wooden looms by artisans in villages across Laos. Tai Baan is a provisional member of WFTO and works according to the fair trade principles. Tai Baan is a small company, based in the capitol of Laos, Vientiane, where they have their office to manage production, check quality and finish products. The dedicated team is experienced in developing custom made items with international customers. Since Tai Baan works with producer groups, lead times can be 2 to 3 months, but it also means the minimum quantity per product is relatively low, which makes the Tai Baan offer attractive for retailers in Europe. Tai Baan can also offer a landed price (DAP) to shop keepers.

Maison & Objet
Tai Baan will exhibit at Maison & Objet in Hall 5A Unique & Eclectic stand S82 in Parc des Expositions in Paris France from September 8-12, 2022. The Tai Baan team will be present to show buyers their new collection, and discuss collaboration and customization options. The collection can also be found on M&O’s MOM platform. New collections from exporters from Cambodia, Bangladesh and Indonesia can also be found in this CBI booth.

CBI
The Centre for the promotion of Imports from Developing Counties, is running an export development programme in Laos. Irene is leading the Home Textiles programme on behalf of CBI and is coaching 11 small and medium sized entreprises in export marketing.
